GHOSTBUSTERS III (2012)

Actor-filmmaker Harold Ramis attended ShoWest earlier this week, where he spoke about what's currently happening with the now officially announced Ghostbusters 3.

Ramis told Entertainment Weekly that the original cast of the first two films will be back for GB3, but that Sony will "be looking at younger actors [for the lead roles], I'm sure. But we'll be in it as mentors or advisers."

Dr. Egon Spengler said that the Ghostbusters 3: Hellbent storyline developed by Dan Aykroyd has been scrapped. "As soon as Danny said it, I thought that was really funny. But now there's a new concept," Ramis explained. "And it's interesting, beyond the kind of mythology of it, there's a personal story that's pretty grounded."

Ramis added that even if writers Gene Stupinksy and Lee Eisenberg were able to turn in a script by this fall, filming would still be at least a year away due to all the pre-production work that would be required.
